What advice would you give to students thinking about studying Engineering?

You need an interest in Physics and Mathematics, with to enjoy additional research, engineering is for you. I would recommend specializing in a certain branch of engineering e.g mechanical, aerospace, civil, motorsport etc, as this will give you the edge when applying for your future career.

What advice would you give to students thinking about studying in Canada?

My application to McGill, Canada was very simple. Ensure your transcripts and information is checked and ready and then you’re all set. If you are applying for a scholarship, then a few essays will be required but just write from your experience and you will be fine. Keep in mind that McGill places a strong emphasis on grades so make sure you’re a levels grades are in check.

What advice would you give to students thinking about studying in America?

The U.S is a large country with various states, each having its own vibes and characteristics. I’m currently living in Boston, a modern yet historical city with a fast-paced and dynamic environment. There are many resources to explore and discover, as there’s always something for everyone. This city also has many colleges and universities, thus it’s really fun to know that you can make friends very easily! The academic journey has been fun and challenging, and I definitely look forward to learning and experiencing more!

What advice would you give about the application process?

The application to U.S universities might be a long and challenging process for many people, especially for international students. Each university has its own requirements and standards. Therefore, it is best to research prior to applying and mark off the general requirements, such as transcripts, achievements and letters of recommendation. Also, extracurricular activities and essays are essential components that portray your personalities, so make sure to express yourself well enough so the admission officers can understand who you are as a person and not just someone with straight As inside the classroom. The application process was truly a learning experience for me and I am grateful for the fact that I have learned more about myself and realized my potentials which I’ve never thought of before. What advice would you give to students looking to study in the UK?

Personally, I studied in the UK where there are many amazing universities with fantastic student life. Throughout my three years at university, I experienced a spectacular opportunity to study in the USA (as an exchange student for a semester) and I was able to witness the similarities and differences. Therefore, I believe that the first thing that needs to be considered is the purpose of education as it will help to set up realistic goals after graduation. In the UK, students need to do a lot of research on their own to accomplish their tasks, which means before they commence their education they need to enhance their researching skills to prevent or minimize potential struggles.

What advice would you give about the application process?

Wherever you go and whatever you do, at some point you will have to fill an application form, which means you will try to show that you are eligible to certain things you are trying to obtain. The applications for universities is a similar case as well. The sole method to increase the success of your application is to work on yourself by getting involved in different sorts of curricular, extra-curricular activities and voluntary and non-voluntary jobs. They not only prepare you to be more competent in certain activities, but also show on your application that you have great potentials to work hard and succeed. Another application tip is that it is always a good idea to have a backup plan to use other methods of getting into universities. For examples, if you fail to get into a university by UCAS, try to contact to local or international agencies who would help you to find a suitable university to pursue your dream subject in your dream country.
